calibration discrepancies?

Postby cutronezone » Tue Apr 28, 2020 12:23 am

Within "configuration" I performed the calibrations on the X,Y and Z axes, my machine is using metric values. And after doing so, when I manually command the mill to go to a specific integer like X900 it will go to X 899.9988 even when I use the step movement function of 1mm it will move to .9994 and then 1.9988 and then 2.9983 and then weirdly 4.0008 The first 3 are less than the desired 1mm movement, but then the final somewhat compensates. I have homed and zeroed all axes. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.
best,
Dan

My guess is the step resolution within your setup does not allow the axis to stop dead on X900, and if the system gave one more step the axis would go past X900 and do something like stop on X900.0021 for example.

As an experiment you could go in demo mode and temporarily change to steps/mm for X axis to a much higher value. My bet then is the system will stop much closer to X900.

The steps per resolution defines to which positions can your machine axis move.
For example if it is 100 then one step size is 1/100=0.01
If your home/start position is 0 and you commanding the axis to move for example to 0.005 then it cannot move to that position, it will move to 0.01
