Hoping my can Help:
Recently converted Optimum MH28V mill to CNC using 12N Nema 34 Closed loop stepper motors and HBS86HS Drivers.
When testing for backlash I have noticed that when in single mode the stepper motor shaft turns in one direction then the other quite severely each time the jog button is pressed. However when the continuous jog mode is selected the motor moves smoothly in one direction only (Ie the direction selected)
Is this a problem with the software or the stepper motor or the driver dib switch settings?
I'm not sure if this is affecting the backlash readings which are surprisingly high (0.1 - 0.16mm) given i'm using double ballscrew nuts and angular contact bearings on all axis.
Any help much appreciated.
