proper wire color orientation on encoder replacement plug

Postby chipsahoy » Mon Jun 24, 2019 2:37 pm

Hello,
New poster here.
I am having issues with an old encoder and bought a replacement unit that is supposed to be correct for my machine- HAAS VF
But I am having concerns about the colored wire sequence between the existing machine connection and the replacement encoder connection.
Logic would tell me that the color sequence should match between old and new encoder connections.
But if the make/model is different, could the wire colors be in a different arrangement and still work correctly ?
EXAMPLE:
The machine plug has this sequence- red, white, yellow, green, orange, blue, brown, black
The replacement encoder plug has this sequence- red, blue, green, white, yellow, orange, brown, black
Since I am not familiar with what each wire does, I'm not keen to just install it and see what happens for fear of ruining expensive components.
I can switch the wires around to match, but prefer to ask before heading into unknown territory.
Can someone advise the best course of action ??
Thanks for your time.

Hopefully you do realize this is NOT a HAAS forum and we have NO idea about your wiring problem on your HAAS machine ??

Just a thought , (;-) TP

google search for correct service manual?

eg: page 358/359 (pdf page 359/360)
https://www.haascnc.com/content/dam/haa ... --2002.pdf

try cnczone?

Hi All
This is definitely not a Haas forum, but we are here to help each other if we can and within limits so a little divergence should not hurt anyone and if there is too much it can be easily moderated.

Cheers
