Modbusmaster 1.0003 plugin help

Postby MattTheNoob » Fri Nov 23, 2018 8:59 pm

I'm trying to set up my Modbus comms and I'm doing something wrong with the plugin.

It may be normal, but the "configure" button on the plugin page doesn't do anything, but the "show" button brings up the dialog.
I try to set my slave IP address, but it keeps reverting back to 127.0.0.1. It seems to do this whenever I change between "connection" and "function" view.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Is this the right plugin to use?

Thanks,
MattTheNoob

... or maybe someone can point me to some documentation for setting up the ModBus TCP?

There's a Modbus plugin manual in UCCNC\Documentation.

Thanks Gerry... I think I'm doing all of that. I feel like there is a save button or something like that that I'm missing.

First, My Click PLC com port config, but I don't think it is even getting this far...

Next, with the plugin disabled, try to configure, and get the message to enable and restart...

Create a connection and enter IP 192.168.1.10

Try to create a function, but connection IP reverts back to the default 127.0.0.1

Enter in the function info (read coils)

Re-enter the connection IP address

… press start loops and get this error, indicating the default IP of 127.0.0.1 is still being used...

I know the problem is me... I'm just hoping I can provide enough evidence for you guys to debug me.

There's no save button, all settings are saved automatically. There is a bug in the plugin: I can't recall, but you have to select the tabs in the correct order not to clear the settings. You have to be on connection on the left while you enter the connection parameters on the right side. If nothing works, you can edit the profile to correct the lost connection. The functions are saved good, just the connection has sometimes problems. The plugin starts and works fine if the settings are good in the profile.

My connection is in the green!

I knew it was going to be something goofy when I finally got it. When you enter in the IP address, you MUST PRESS ENTER. If you just click on another field, like subnet mask, your IP number look like they have been entered, but disappear when you change tabs or start loops.

I'm still not seeing the coils I'm trying to read from the PLC, but I've only spent a few minutes on that part.

Thanks guys! One more hurdle down!
