UCCNC M10 Laser Feed is not smooth

Postby mayhem2408 » Sun Oct 07, 2018 8:13 pm

I am working with a gcode file that uses M10 Qx and M11 to trigger the laser. M10 and M11 should be synchronous and not affect the feed rate as they are applyed. This is not happening in my case. I need very accurate positioning so can't have the error levels set to high.
I have included a link to the test files and a video showing the problem. As you can see from this video, the feed jitters around even though there is no feedrate change in the file. Feed is set to 2000 and the beginning of the file and never changes. These fluctuations in feedrate cause darker patches in the laser engraving. I have tested this on a UC100 and a UC300ETH-5LPT. Any ideas on how I can fix this? My current working solution is to use a GRBL controller, but would much prefer to have my UC100 do the lot. I would also consider upgrading to a UC400ETH if it would fix the problem.

XYZ axis settings are
Steps Per Unit 133.3333
Velocity 3000
Acceleration 400

Linear Error Max 0.1
Linear Additional Length Max 0.5
Linear Unify Length Max 1

We will need some days to check this out, because my collegues are out to France, but will be back soon and then we will debug the issue.

I am also having a problem with the laser output using the M10 code
Using the Laser Pluging, the laser is working fine so I know it's wired up correctly, but the M10 Qx does not turn the laser on.

Did you apply M3 before the M10? M3 acts as a "safety enable" for the M10.

I found that the laser only operates using the M10 Q commands after a M3 has been issued. I only issued the M3 at the start of the file. The problem is if you stop the program and start it again, the spindle M3 does not get issued again and the laser will not start up. If I stop the program and rewind it, the laser will work again. If you try to issue an M3 before each M10, the movement stops and starts at each M3.

Yes, that is how it works. The M3 is an enable signal for the laser PWM (M10). And ofcourse the g-code will not issue an M3 if there is no M3 in the code.

I'll Good. Got that sorted out now. So long as I press the enable spindle before I cycle start, it will be OK on a restart. Back to the original problem so jittery movement when the feedrate is not instructed to change. I also have an issue with M10 Q0 or M11 not working, but that is detailed in another post.
