UC100 installed but Mach3 not communicating with controller

Postby mrpuzzle » Sat Oct 03, 2020 7:30 am

Hello. I had to change from an old computer with parallel port to use my laptop (Win 10) for my CNC with Mach3 software so I purchased the cncdrive.com UC100 CNC Motion Controller. Version of Mach 3 Controller R2.63
It all seemed to install OK. Blue and green lights on the back ok. In USB devices in windows ok. Setup pin/port Input signals for estop and motor outputs ok. Screen shots in attachment.
But the message "Emergency mode active…. Press reset…." continues to come up and the RESET button flashes red.
I tried different ways of installing. New install. Using old files from original install. Always the same result.
One issue I get but only when I exit the Mach3 program. I don't know if it's related.
XMLNetProfile - Load Warning – (small square character) hexadecimal value 0x18, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 415.
Thank you if you can assist.
Sue.

Check the port and pin numbers of the E Stop input, as well as the active low setting.

But I'd be surprised if the UC100 will work correctly with Mach3 version 2.63, which is an extremely old version. You should update to 3.043.062, which is the latest version available.

Only Mach3 R3 works with motion controllers. Mach3 R2 version works with parallel port only, so you need to upgrade to Mach3 R3 version.

And the 0x18 invalid character message is because you using a cracked Mach3 license key and 0x18 is an invalid character for xml files, but in the cracked license there are 0x18 characters and Mach3 writes that into the xml file. To verify that this is the issue remove the license key Mach1lic.dat file from the Mach3 folder and run Mach3 twice on the second run you will not get this message anymore, because Mach3 will overwrite the cracked license name to demo mode. The solution for this problem is to purchase a valid license key or live with the startup message, however I think it is not fair to use a commercial product without paying for it.

don't waste your money buying a mach3 licence at $175, buy a uccnc licence as they are much cheaper and uccnc will work a lot better than mach3

Thank you everyone for such quick replies. I'll have a go at upgrading today. I don't use cnc more than once a year so I'm a bit of a novice at all this.
