Emulate Probe Input ?

Postby RWC » Mon Mar 25, 2019 3:49 pm

Hi folks,
1.2109 - AXBB - Demo mode
I searched "emulate" and did not find the answer.
Question is, is there a way to emulate an input with a hotkey similar to the way Mach3 worked ?
Namely, the probe input.
I looked through the functions and did not see anything like that to assign to a hotkey.
Still just playing in demo mode awaiting parts and materials for my build.
Thanks,
Russ

Hi Russ,

No, there's no emulate function. In demo mode all inputs are high.

OK, thanks dezsoe.
Is there a more current manual to go with the latest released version of the SW ?
All I can find is 1.0042 which does not have much of a description of the probing screens.
Or a separate doc possibly.
It is pretty well self=explanatory but would like to be sure.
Thanks again,
Russ

The up to date documentation (users manual) in all UCCNC software versions installs with the software into the UCCNC/Documentation folder.
There is a separate documentation of the probing plugin/screen, it opens if you press the "i" (information) button on the probing screen.

One more question ... for now

I see much mention of Safe Probe Mode in the manual but no description of exactly what it is.
Two buttons on the screen:
Safe Probe Mode and Jog Safe Probe.
Please explain how these are intended to function.
Thanks.

Safe probe mode is a safety feature. If you turn it on then when you move the axes and the probe touches then it stops and the probe will not break. The probe screen turns it on for all movements which are not G31.

If you enable jog safe probe then you can probe e.g. a tool with just jogging. If the probe touces then you can jog only to the opposite direction to save the tool or probe.

Very nice, thank you.
(I hope I didn't overlook those descriptions in the manual)
If not, they would be an excellent addition. :)
Thanks again dezsoe,

Jog safe probe is a built in function (JSP) of the UCCNC, I think it is described in the UCCNC manual.

I did find that part in the UCCNC manual.

"An extra function for probing is the software's ability to probe with jogging. If the probe input
activates while the machine is jogging then the axes stop automatically and the current jog direction
on the axes get disabled until the probe input deactivates. This protects the probe from getting
damaged from over traveling the touch point. The machine operator can re-enable the disabled
jogging directions with jogging the axes off the probe deactivating the probe input."

Thank you.
