This was all fine until I recently rewired each axis with screened cable so am suspecting that some crossed wiring may have provoked this .( I also fitted plugs in each cable so got two extra shots at getting it wrong in each side of those )
Software is current

When I connected wires the directions altered . In some cases i switched wires , in some I reversed in the software (somewhere I read that this was permissible )so I may well have created an almighty mess.
I think I probably need to go back and bell through each wire and ensure they are where they are supposed to be

In the first post you wrote that you replaced the wires on the step motors. This should have nothing to do with home switches.
Check that the switches are working properly.
Go to the diagnostic tab and see if the home LED is activated when you manually press any of the switches. Since the switches are connected in series, the LEDs for all three axes should be activated when one of the switches is pressed.

Tried this !
None of the switches prompt an led to light . but all switches make and break when operated and I have continuity though the loop
Will try a different pin and (I presume redesignate home to that pin.)

OK Guys found a problem and Now I feel like a pratt.
Ground link to the bar serving pins 10 to 15 had dropped out .( I didnt spot it cos it was hiding under the BOB)
So Now I have working home switches.

Sorry if I have been a pain.

at least you got it sorted.... sure one of the million other possible things will catch you out next time.... you only have to be right once but there are many more chances to be wrong
