Laser permanently on

Hello,

I have installed a low power laser for marking wood pattern outlines to my cnc router. The machine is driven by an AXBB-E controller and has been trouble free for a couple of years now.
The laser is a 1.6W LED 24VDC PWM=5VDC Three wire - Pos, Neg, PWM
The basic problem is that with the PWM lead tied to pin 17 port 1, the laser is always on from machine startup.
I have tried every configurble setting for PWM, spindle control. Active Hi / Lo, you name it. I think I've tried it with no success and whilst most others struggle to fire their lasers, I am struggling to switch it off.
Please help, it would be much appreciated.

Rgds,

Mirko

Well, if the control is always on for the laser pin set to active low and also for active high then something is wrong with your laser controller.
My suggestion is to measure the output signal with a multimeter or even better to use an oscilloscope or logic analyser.

Thanks for your response. My electronics knowledge is fairly basic but I have done that and pin 17 measure high regardless of configuration- 4.98Vdc. Even though I would prefer to resolve pin 17, can I try other output pins on Port 1 without blowing anything up.

You can configure the laser to any of the output pins.

I would also check if anything else is configured to pin 17.
