allen bradley connections to axbb-e

Postby craig » Thu Sep 19, 2024 6:14 pm

I'm finishing up the wiring on an axbb-e. The only thing i have left to get working is the spindle. It is an Allen Bradley ultra 3000 motor and drive. The input signals on this drive are 24v with 10.3v being the minimum. There is no option of low assertion (GND) signals for enable, step and direction. I'm not sure how to get the axbb-e to talk to this drive. Any suggestions?

1000 views and no comments? Well, here is where I'm at, Used a relay to be able to enable the drive via the axbb-e output. Also to enable a gear ratio preset within the Alen Bradley drive. Although as fast as the axbb-e can pulse, i don't think i'm going to need an electronic gear ratio. But i have not been able to get step and direction to work.

Made some progress i thought i would share to help out the next person.

pin 4 (step +) to non isolated axbb-e output pin 15
pin 5 (step -) put nothing on this pin
pin 6 (dir +) to non isolated axbb-e output pin 16
pin 7 (dir -) put nothing on this pin
pin 27 ground (24v)
pin 29 +24v
pin 31 +24v enable (use a relay that an axbb-e output turns on)
pin39 i have set up as an input to axbb-e for drive error. (24v)

I have m3/m4 set up to tun on the relay that sends the enable signal to the drive. Still have to figure out how to pull encoder signal from drive into axbb-e.
