XBox 360 plugin problems

Postby Greolt » Sat Oct 21, 2017 5:46 am

I wrote the following in another thread. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=394

That thread is busy with another issue. So as to not muddy those waters, I started this new one.

The following is just info that might help any one else having problems getting this going.

Win7 32 bit, DirectX 11, Microsoft.NET 4.5

Tried SlimDX for .NET 4.0 32bit ........ NO GOOD

Tried SlimDX for .NET 2.0 .......WORKED OK

With the above the plugin DID work.

However there was some sort of conflict with my USB drivers. (latest driver updates)

After some time they would just disconnect. (includes USB keyboard)

Had to either unplug/replug, or reboot comp to get them going.

This is not the power managment setting in the device manager. (I know about that)

Uninstalled SlimDX and all is good again.

Any ideas what I might do? Really liked the XBox plugin but can not use it like that.

To add to this;

Loaded SlimDX for 2.0 on my desktop computer

Win7, 64bit, DirectX 11, Microsoft.NET 4.6

Been playing with XBox. No controller connected.

No problems so far.

One side issue is the "Right X Axis" selects jog step but seems very flakey.

Have to fiddle with it for a while to select the jog step wanted.

Jog steps are set in plugin as ; 1, 0.5, 0.1, 0.05

If I want 0.5 then I must toggle the right stick backwards and forwards until randomly it will set on 0.5

Another thing I am seeing is after the RightX is operated to change step size (which is flakey) JogSpeed% gets set to 50%

After operating any other axis, JogSpeed% returns to the value set in the plugin.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Here is a YouTube video of what I am trying to describe.

Very grateful for Eric's generosity in providing UCCNC users with this plugin. If only I were smart enough to write a plugin like this. :)

Video will not stay published for long. When it has served its purpose I will delete it

Well I have removed the above mentioned video.

Realised that I was using the "RightX" stick incorrectly. The corect method is in the help file.

My bad. Sorry.

There is still the issue that after using the "RightX" the JogSpeed% is left at 50% instead of the value set in the plugin.

Also sometimes the JogSpeed% is left at some irrelevant random number

Greolt,

Thanks for the feedback, I'll take a look and see what is up with the feedrate getting reset.

Are you using the right stick 'x' to jog an axis (if so, which axis), or set the steps currently?

Further to this, I have been fiddling with this quite extensivly and made a very short video to show what I mean.

Still feel the "Step Dist" selection with the "RightX" stick is kinda flakey

Stretched out the "Jog Feed%" field or DRO to show the whole number.

Very low res video so it would upload.

Thanks Greolt,

I need to work on the plugin a bit to make sure the right x movements stop feeding into the velocity calc when not being used as a jog input.

Will take me a little time to work it in.
